I’m so excited to have the opportunity to leisurely write this post. Life has been pretty hectic lately and to take the time to breath and relax has been so great. I’m grateful to have this opportunity to rest.
First and foremost, my heart breaks for the event that has taken place in Nice. France is considered a home for me, I lived there for a short while and have nothing but amazing memories and love for the French people.
Little bit of a life update: my dad has been stable, but I know the days are numbered. Currently, we’re in different states and I’m trying to move him closer to me so that I could see him more and do more with him. The 4-5 round trip drive really tires you out and I can’t call out of work anymore. It’d be nice to eat dinner with my dad a couple nights a week and wheel him around in his wheelchair to more wheelchair friendly places.
I spent the 4th of July at my friend Ann’s house and it just down poured all afternoon into the evening and fireworks were canceled. I found out the next day that the town I live in still had their fireworks and it wasn’t raining… 22 miles makes a big difference.
So much new music has been out and I’ve yet to get my hands on ANY of it, but I look forward to a music binge. Hillsong United released Of Dirt and Grace an acoustic version of Empires. They did this for Zion and hearing the acoustic songs changed the meaning of some of these songs for me. With the sounds being more stripped down I embraced them in a much different way and even favored the acoustic over the original. I’m super pumped about this.
Red Hot Chili Peppers came out with new music a month ago and I did get teary eyed watching James Corden do carpool karaoke with them. This is a band that my brother and I loved and grew up listening to. In fact, we even had fights over how he’d steal my copies of Californication and By The Way.
Joy Williams released two new singles, one I heard on Instagram this morning and the other yesterday reading this Billboard article. Her voice gives me goosebumps.
One of my ABSOLUTE favorites, Brooke Fraser, released a new song ‘St. Petersburg‘ yesterday.
Let’s get away from music shall we?
I have a new to me product that I’ve tried out amidst all the recent events and it’s literally changed my life. I really look forward to sharing that with you all!
Today is the Bastille Day celebration in Philadelphia (home sweet home!) at the Eastern State Penitentiary and I’m really looking forward to another year of beheading the TastyKake and Marie Antoinette! I love that Marie Antoinette yells, ‘LET THEM EAT THEIR TASTYKAKE!’ and they throw butterscotch krimpets at us. It’s one of those things I look forward to every summer.
I saw Finding DoryFinding Dory and cried. I’d like to say it was better than Finding Nemo, but they’re such different movies… so hard to say if I’m firm on that opinion. I’m typically anti-sequel, but this definitely goes on the list of Must See Sequels.
Outlander ended last week. I only saw the first few episodes of season 2. Life has just been crazy and tv hasn’t been a priority. Ann and I are going to have an Outlander marathon weekend one of these weeks where we actually have all that time… that’ll be amazing to know we have all that time and if we really accomplish this idea!
My Make-Up Monday posts will appear here and there moving forward. I haven’t bought anything. I don’t have the desire to buy things. I don’t like having too much stuff and I really only like to buy things I like/need. I honestly need another eyeshadow palette like I need a hole in my head.
BUT if I could buy a palette right now it would grav3yardgirl’s Swamp Queen Palette. Gorgeous shades of shadow and I absolutely love Tarte products.
Okay! that’s that!
What have you been up to? Any highlights to your summer?
