(where I wrap up my weekly reads, listens, eats, buys, internet reads/finds and anything else worth highlighting)
So here we are at the end of August…
It’s so hard to believe that school is starting again! It’s a reminder that I need to get my butt in gear and move faster in the mornings to beat the school busses on my commute to work. It’s also a reminder that I’m a bit behind in my crocheting schedule for Christmas gifts. Oy.
Reads: I got back into reading She’s Got Issues and journaling along the way. I was so busy in the evenings that my Kindle didn’t open for about two weeks and during my lunch I was reading blogs or watching YouTube. As I’ve hopped onto Amazon I’ve come across other books that I put on my Wishlist or bought because they had a deal and I knew I wanted to read the book. These are more instructional and Christian books, as opposed to a fictional fix. However, I do have a ‘stack’ of fiction books to get to. My friend Kristin is really good with updating her Goodreads and making my add more and more to my ‘Like to Read’ list.
Listens: I’ve been listening to the new TobyMac A LOT. When I’m getting ready in the morning I’ve put his stuff on shuffle on my iPod. While at work I’ve been listening to my Ellie Holcomb or X Ambassadors stations on Pandora. I’m really looking forward to listening to the new Rend Collective and JJ Heller albums today. (as I type they’re downloading).
Eats: This is my new favorite cereal. I haven’t adapted the paleo diet completely, as I still have some grains and legumes appearing here and there. For the most part, I have been eating paleo as it goes best with the training that I’ve started. Will I start eating meat again? It’s up for debate, but I don’t miss eating meat. It took two years, but I put seafood back into my diet after having a strict vegan diet because I missed it. It also helped because I can’t consume tofu/soy on a regular for protein.
Buys: OMG. Have you seen the new MAC line? Let’s just say, it’s gorgeous and I can’t openly say anything about it because I bought a few things for other people. While having a conversation with my friend Tina about life, I said something along the lines of ‘I’m 30 and I don’t have a proper skin care routine or your eye products or night things and I should probably get on board with it. Except, what I want to buy is pricey and some of the best stuff I’ve read about.’ Tina said, ‘yo listen, you deserve it. BUY IT.’ So, I did. Sunday Riley reviews will be coming up in a week or two.
Tomorrow night I’m meeting a friend for dinner and then I am going to World Cafe Live for a Gilmore Guys podcast taping. I’m pretty pumped because I will be in a room filled with other Gilmore Girls nerds. Seriously. A dream come true.
Today I am going to get a lot of cleaning done, writing, planning out some DIY projects that I want to do and getting some goals written done for the remainder of the year.
What are you guys up to? Make-up nerds: have you seen the new MAC line?! Any good book or music suggestions that you’ve read/heard??
BON SAMEDI!
