Disclaimer: Let’s be honest, I neglected to take better pictures of these products because I was watching Star Wars Episode 1 instead.
Yup, I know it’s the first Monday of 2016, but I took time off to do family things in December. Priorities, ya know? It’s still early enough in 2016 for you to try new products and read my favorites! These are all products that were new to me in 2015, as I know some of these existed for 2015… or I believe they did!
Let’s start from the beginning of the day to winding the day down, shall we?
Tarte Clean Slate Poreless 12-hr Perfecting Primer. This primer didn’t make my make-up look oily as the day went on and it definitely has the ‘blur’ effect. It states that it fills lines, but I don’t have lines to fill in. I don’t use this during the work week, so I can’t say it doesn’t last 12 hours; but, I’d definitely think it does do a beyond 12 hour job!
Maybelline’s Super Stay Better Skin and Fit Me! Matte and Poreless. During the late spring and summer months I used the Nude Beige in both Better Skin and Fit Me. Since my complexion became paler with the ‘colder’ weather, I switched to the Classic Ivory shade in both. I like both of these foundations on their own and mixing them together. They aren’t too moisturizing or drying for my skin. They soak into my skin and there isn’t a slippery feeling when applying either foundation. Some days I do mix the foundations and it still works great! Nothing weird happens due to their formulas. P.S. I also like the concealers.
Lots of other bloggers have mentioned their love of the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, which I like, but the one that has saved my butt the most is the IT Cosmetic’s Bye Bye Undereye Concealer! This stuff is thick and you need to know what you want to do with it. As you can see, my concealer is in a tube and I will dot it on the spots/area where I need it. I purchased this from QVC and use the brush that came with it, because the bristles do work great with the thick consistency of the concealer. I take the buffing side of the brush and ‘pat out’ the concealer and then I use this IT Cosmetics brush to buff it out a bit more. This concealer hides EVERYTHING. If I wanted a more ‘flawless’ face look or had the most handsome date ever, I’d use this all over my face. hahahahaha! Plus the waterproof version was AMAZING during the humid summer.
The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Anti-Aging) has returned to my life! I originally used it in 08/09 for two or three years, but it just made a come back! I put it on at 6:30 am and take it off around 8:00 pm and it works! Three sentences back to back with exclamation points! Now four… is it safe to say I really like it? Despite my hooded lids, there isn’t a crease line even if I have an intense training that evening. OH YEAH.
My favorite shadows to use this year was Fleur deForce’s Cosmic Bronze quad and Tarte’s Tarteist Matte Palette. I’ve used every shadow and they are great for day and evening looks.
My two favorite eyeliners that I bought this year are Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock ‘n’ Kohl Liquid Eye Pencil in Veruschka Mink. Having the right eyelid primer makes these liners look and stay better. The Tattoo Liner allows me to add a nice thin line, a thick line, an amazing cat eye… possibilities seem endless, except for the smudging! For the Rock ‘n’ Kohl I typically use it for a less defined lined eye. I can smudge it a little or have a nice subtlely lined eye with the dark gray.
During the summer months with the humidity I wore the Maybelline Waterproof Lash Sensational in Black Pearl. The only bad thing about this is how hard it is to get off. I have to put coconut oil on a cotton pad and hold it over my eye for a minute or two to soften it up for washing my face. Otherwise, this stuff is amazing in humidity, and all year round, because it doesn’t transfer onto the lid.
I started paying attention to my brows this year! I started using Tarte’s The Brow Architect pencil in Fair Light and then during the Sephora VIB sale I bought Kat Von D’s Tattoo Brow, both I love and use for different looks.

As for lip sticks, it’s a tie between Charlotte Tilbury’s Walk of Shame, Bond Girl and Red Carpet Red. I can’t choose which Fleur de Force gloss is my favorite, but those are my favorites that I’ve turned to since they came out.
Finally, let’s discuss how awesome Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop Highlight for Becca is: you can use it in the inner corners of your eyes, as a highlighter (duh), under the brow to highlight and even to pack on your lids for an insane shimmer. This product has serious pigment and I’m not afraid of running out since I bought two and my mom bought me one. Yes, that means I have three compacts of Champagne Pop.
In the Miscellaneous area: Rohto drops are amazing and really help me wake up my eyeballs after a rough sleep… or too much thinking. The Organix Coconut Milk serum has been a life saver for my hair! It’s a drug store dupe for one of my favorite Bumble and Bumble products. The Body Shop’s Monoi oil is just amazing. I put it in my hair for overnight conditioning, I’ll lightly rub it on my face for moisturizing at night and I will rub it into my feet. It also smells so good! It really is miraculous!
What were your favorites? Did I mention a product that maybe didn’t work for you? Thoughts, opinion, or suggestions for new products to try this year?!
You mentioned such awesome products. The Tartelette palette is a must have
Thanks! Yes, Tarte is a favorite brand and their eye shadows are great. I got the In Bloom palette for Christmas and it’s just as good 😀
The In Bloom palette looks gorgeous!

Star Wars before blog photography??? I can forgive you for that. ;o) I love those Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, especially Bond Girl! I didn’t realize that Fleur de Force had her own makeup line! I need to catch up on her videos!
haha! It was the last day of my Christmas break! You must check out FeelUnique.com for FdF’s line! I didn’t include her Eyelure lashes, but those have been great for fun occasions 🙂
